Former Prime Minister of the country Manmohan Singh passed away last Thursday night. In fact, after his health deteriorated, he was admitted to AIIMS, Delhi late in the evening, where doctors declared him dead. Was born in Punjab
Former PM Manmohan Singh was born on 26 September 1932 in a Gah village in the Punjab province of undivided India. Dr. Manmohan Singh completed his matriculation from Punjab University in the year 1948. During partition, his family migrated to India and settled in Amritsar. After that he completed his further education from Cambridge University, Britain. In the year 1957, he got a first class honors degree in Economics. After this, in 1962, he did D.Phil in Economics from Nuffield College, Oxford University.
School named after Dr. Singh in Gah village
Let us tell you that the village in which Manmohan Singh was born went to Pakistan after partition. But even today there is a school in his Gah village known by the name of ‘Manmohan Singh Government Boys School’. This is the same school from where Dr. Manmohan Singh did his early studies.

The Gah village of Punjab province where Manmohan Singh was born, actually had a very low population before partition. Not only this, there was nothing in the name of facilities in that village. Although Manmohan Singh always gave importance to studies, that is why he continued his studies despite changing circumstances and partition of the country. But today Manmohan Singh’s village is an ideal village. His school classmate Raja Mohammad Ali had told the media that the people of his Gah village still thank Manmohan Singh.
